Nokia E71-Unlocked Cell Phone

Unlocked Cell Phone - Nokia E71

In this post I'll review Nokia E71 Pros and Cons

(+) PLUS: Nokia E71-Unlocked Cell Phone

Camera is brilliant, as is video camera. Operating system is really good and stable, only very few crashes on it, and sound, voice and signal quality is very well. Wi-Fi also works very great and is easy to setup networks with the built-in digital scanner, very good browser with fast processor speed.

GPS -The GPS in the phone is best class with both an actual GPS receiver and assisted GPS through cell tower. The phone arrives with a wonderful program called Maps but the only drawback is that you ought to pay a monthly fee to use any sort of route direction.
Networks in General -- This phone runs good on both AT&T and T-Mobile but each has their drawbacks. AT&T has the quicker network but limits you to 5Gb/month bandwidth and charges extra to leash. T-Mobile provides actual unlimited data on EDGE and provides free tethering to any device but has the slower "2.75G" EDGE data network. Wi-Fi is available on the phone and works flawlessly.

One bonus of the E71 that you don't get with the iPhone -- you can use it with your computer using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (via Joiku) to get 3G internet speeds on your PC.

(-) MINUS:

This phone does NOT work with T-mobile 3G in the US. T-Mobile 3G in the US applies the 1700 MHz spectrum (you can read on Wikipedia as for the reasons why) and there are no 3G roaming agreements with AT&Ts 3G spectrum like there is with EDGE. it because, that EDGE is fast enough for web browsing and e-mail use (220 kbps+.) Using GSM/EDGE only also more than doubles your battery life, so this is not a whole bad thing for T-Mobile users.

Keyboard is a little stitch, and not laid out like a BB QWERTY (the M is in the wrong place). Battery lifetime while on a 3g network is not good enough, may not even last a day with heavy data/voice usage

SUMMARY:

All in all this is a first class phone whose only missing feature is a touch screen. Depending on your need for a QWERTY keyboard I would say this and the N95 are battling it out for best phone in the world right now. fast 3G capability, excellent size, feel, and look, speedy processor, improved OS and great computer connection software (nokia pc suite), 3MP camera with flash, comes with carrying case, carrying strap, stereo earphones, and data cable
